It Freaking ROCKED
No, it wasn't perfect, and yes there were some things I would have done differently. I gave it a 9. They combined the various Cap Origin stories well, and had some GREAT geek moments.

I am looking forward to seeing it again.

I might post more later, when I am actually awake, but I thought it was the best of the current franchise. Of course, it was pointed out to me that I might be a bit biased.

And the Creep Meter Pegs!
As I occasionally do, I walked down to AK's mini mart in downtown San Jose. It's a kind of low end stop and shop that is literally on the other side of the tracks. There really seems to be a firm demarcation between the business district and the low rent district here, and it is the tracks for the light rail.
I picked up my breakfast donut, and a soda to have with lunch, and went to pay.
While I am waiting for the cashier to ring me out, a well dressed gentleman walks in and steps in front of me to order cigars. No big deal. I wasn't in a hurry.
The cashier continued with my transaction at which point the other chap asks me "are you going to pay for my coffee?" My response was 'No.' not as polite as I wish, in hindsight, because I was so flabbergasted.
When my transaction was finished, the dude pointed to my beef jerky and asked if he could have one. I thought about it but then he said 'You can just put it right in my mouth here.' CREEPY! Yeah, I politely told him that I had no interest in touching him and to have a nice day.

WHO thinks that is OK? REALLY?

Well Played I say!
So...back when I had just won Coronet for the first time, I was at the Mists Management meeting and the exchequer asked if anyone needed any funds allocated for anything. The Bard of the Mists, mamapduck, in her cutest voice said 'I want a pony.' Much laughter ensued, and then, being a BIT of a smartass...no, don't deny it, it's true...just a little bit, I went to a toy store and bought her a pink hobby horse with 'Neighing Action.' (I will have to replace it for MPD Jr.) This was then presented in court, to the amusement of the populace.

Fast Forward a few years to today; the CFO sends out an email telling us that our comptroller is out for the day and if we need anything from accounting to ask her. My response is, of course, 'I want a pony.'

She sent back, THIS.

Topic for discussion---thoughts welcomed
Is it possible to be generous without being kind?
Can one be giving, and not be caring?

At this time of year, we see huge displays of charity, but are they truly generosity?
Are they guilt? Are they marketing? What is the meaning behind them?

OK...So Uther Rocks
I don't post very often, but something happened today to just inspire me.

When Uther arrived at practice today, he was wearing a tres cool Captain America t-shirt.
It was Jack Kirby artwork in black on a light blue shirt...I saw it and told him that I had Shirt Envy. He told me where I could find it, I laughingly told the guys at practice that I would see them when I got back, and then went in the house.

As I was walking back out, he handed me an identical shirt, that he had brought just for me.

I thought that was one of the nicest things that someone has done for me.

Edit: LJ is VERY confused. I let it detect my location and it came up with San Leandro...only 30 miles off.

It's the Mad Duchess' fault!
Last week sometime she said that Two Lumps was a webcomic worth reading (I paraphrase...Her praise was greater.)
I must concur...this ranks up there with Order of the Stick

I know people like this!

Getting in touch with my inner hobbit
For those who don't know, I grew up in a small town in Southeast Michigan. Hamburg, MI had, when I was growing up, fewer people than I have seen at some West Kingdom events.
Being from a small town, we had 2 1/2 acres, and the best sledding hill in the neighborhood. We also had a garden. I hated that damn thing. I spent a hideously large amount of my childhood rototilling, weeding, picking rocks, picking beans...whatever.
Whodathunk I would spend a day gleefully tilling the back lawn, and the side yard, and raking out the weeds. I have tilled about 450 square feet of yard, and gotten started on raking it. Tomorrow we need to get some fertilizer and Till that in, and then we can plant grass seed and hopefully have a lawn for Noah, Peanut, and Marguerite Jr. to play on.
I had forgotten what satisfaction there was to be working the land.
I feel more at peace, and more positive than I have in months. Who knew.

Well...mostly done is pretty spiffy?

Last night I finished all of the main stitching on Keith's tunic. It came out really well (DON'T look at the back!) All that is left is attaching one sleeve (Have to find my black yarn) and doing the seam treatments I am thinking gold. The gores on the sides match the material of the sleeve patches, so it is black and rust. What do people think of gold up the side seams?

Amusing Political humor
Some Webcomics that I thought were pretty funny.

This is from Full Frontal Nerdity by Aaron Williams. Amusingly on point.

This is from Scott Kurtz' PVPonline.

Both are worth reading and very amusing. (I miss Bloom County!)

Some days you're the windshield
Some days you're the roadkill.

Yesterday was pretty much the sort of things suck is made of. There were individual moments of 'OK' to 'Good' but taken on a whole, I'da rather been in Mordor.

When I rolled out at 5 it seemed like it would be a good day, but I couldn't get motivated to WORK at the gym. I did my cardio, I did my weights, but I really just kinda phoned it in. That lack of drive stayed with me all day. I spent hours looking at a mostly blank page of the operations manual. Added to that, I was rude and snippy to misagillian on the phone and you get the makings of a brilliant day.

Good points: We went to Brian and Rachael's to carve pumpkins with the Noahmeister (downside; some moron forgot to go to the store and pick up pumpkins. His initials? M. E.) Fortunately we had some resin pumpkins. When we got there Marco and Adriana were there with Marissa, their little girl. That was cool, she is terribly cute.

I got started on my pumpkin, a fairly complex pattern with lots of little lines, and I was using a new tool that worked well. (Ask rachaelfleury or misagillian about directions for using one's tool) It was a woodburner with an X-acto blade. Cut through the resin in no time. I put the knife in its little stand so I could go to the loo, and then as I stood up, I kicked the cord. Not wanting it to land on the carpet and burn the house down, I caught it. NOT BRIGHT! I now have two charred fingers and the palm of my left hand is burned. Needless to say I didn't finish the pumpkin...maybe tonight.

To top it off, I had a restless night last night, woke up late, and when I went to bid my sweetheart goodbye, it came out as a cross between a mime and a bullfrog.

Hope your days are better!
